Are you seeking counselling in or near St Albans?

Welcome to my website. I am an experienced and professionally qualified counsellor based in St Albans, Hertfordshire.

You may refer yourself for counselling, or you may ask your GP or another health professional to refer you. You will then be offered an initial consultation. This meeting will provide the opportunity to discuss together whether a psychodynamic approach is likely to be of benefit to you.

It will also give you the opportunity to ask any questions about therapy before beginning. It is not unusual to feel hesitant before starting therapy. A counsellor or therapist working psychodynamically will not advise you, or suggest ways of solving your problems. Instead, you and your therapist think together about the issues that concern you, exploring thoughts and feelings you have about your life and situation.

It is difficult to say how long therapy will take. Many people go initially to deal with a specific issue over a period of several months. Some then decide they want to make deeper changes and so continue in longer-term work which may take several years.

Counselling and therapy provide a safe place in which to explore emotional issues in private. Each session lasts fifty minutes and sessions take place once a week.
